Patriotic Wreath

Good evening fellow crafters and/or random person (who happened to stumble upon my blog)!   ;)

When looking at a calendar and taking note of the holidays and special occasions, there are several holidays that focus on appreciation for America and those who have served in our military.  When I was making my wreath, I wanted to be able to use it more than once a year; so when deciding on the images I kept that thought in mind.  Here is my finished project...

Materials used: 12 inch wire wreath - Michael's; Tulle - local Sew Store; Cricut - markers & cartridges "Stand and Salute" & "Independence Day"; Cardstock - Stampin' Up, Creative Imaginations, Recollections; Red/White Twine - The Twinery; Ribbon and Fibers - Michael's; Glitter (lots of it) - Martha Stewart.  :)

Dog Tags read: "Support Our Troops" and "Let Freedom Ring"
Give a shout out to my brother who helped me out with how to "bling" the Eagle.  ;)
Well...that's it for now; so until next time...
Three cheers for the red, white, and blue!

CHEERS!

Inking It Up Crazy Birthday Bash

Hello...Hello...Hello!

Welcome to Kassidy's Month Long Birthday Bash!

Kassidy over at Inking It Up is celebrating her birthday for the month of June.  She has invited several guest to help design projects using her favorite items and themes.  At the end of the post, head on over to her blog for a chance to enter for giveaways.  :)

My theme for Kassidy's Birthday Bash is patriotic.  I've been wanting to create something using my Grandfather's Army photos from when he was in the Service during WWII.

My Grandfather: Edward Surufka.

The bottom left photo (2 men): my Grandfather's friend Slick-o and my Grandfather.
The bottom right photo (3 men): fellow Soldiers and my Grandfather.

I used a sponge to ink the saluting Soldier.

THANK YOU PAPA!
XOXO

Recipe for "American Heros":
Cardstock - Bazzill Basics Paper
Designer Paper - Creative Imaginations
Stickers - Creative Imaginations "Patriotic"
Cartridges - Stand & Salute, Hannah Montana Font (A and H), Plantin School Book
Ink - Stampin Up "Chocolate Chip"
Markers - Sharpie Ultra Fine Point

Alright...head back on over to Kassidy's blog and enter in her giveaways; some pretty awesome items she has.  :)

PS: Happy Birthday Kassidy!!  :)

Award & Quick "work" Project

Hey Crafty Peeps!

I wanted to share a quick craft I did with one of the children I take care of (I'm an Au Pair).  Normally, the child is not big on making/doing crafts (I know...shocking; right?!) but he's starting to think that between workbook/lessons or doing crafts; crafts is not that bad.  LOL  He is also a huge aviation fan so we used my Cricut to cut out planes, jets, helicopters to make pin wheel boutiques.  I think these turned out too cute!

Cricut cartridge used was Stand & Salute.

White card stock cut at 5 1/2" squares and used Stampin Up Classic Stars jumbo wheel inked in Yoyo Yellow.

Cut all 4 corners to the middle and folded every other side.

Fastened all together with a good ol fashion brass plated fastners.  I used straws to fasten the pin wheel to.  The little guy wanted to use flags to decorate the planes.

On to other news...a friend of mine; Patty at Creative Diva awarded me the CRICUT-TASTIC AWARD.

The info about this award is pretty basic...a blog is deemed CRICUT-TASTIC!  Wear this badge proudly on your blog and share it with other friends.  The award-ie needs to pass this award onto 10 other people who they think have a CRICUT-TASTIC blog.  The award-ie, also needs to share 5 CRICUT related things about self.

  1. As a 31st birthday present to myself (September 2010), I bought the Cricut Expression.
  2. I've been good at purchasing cartridges when on sale; never full price ($80 plus). - YIKES!  ;)
  3. The majority of my projects, cards, scrap albums all involve me using the Cricut; somehow.
  4. Went to my first scrapbook expo and purchased the Gypsy back in February 2011.
  5. I think whatever I am working on, using the Cricut and cartridges; add a whole new life to the project.
It's never easy to decide who can get an award; especially with this hobby.

  1. Linda
  2. Elizabeth
  3. Glora
  4. Lauren
  5. Lisa
  6. Gloria
  7. Faith
I'm going to bend the rules a little (shhh...don't tell) and leave the other 3 spaces up to you.  Leave me a comment on who you think is CRICUT-TASTIC and I will post it here and notify them.  How does that sound?  :)

My pink Stamper National Scrapbook Day Challenge 6

Well...I've realized when I create a card, scrapbook album, scrapbook page, 3D project of some kind...I don't do the simple method.  I take A LOT of time into planning layout, colors, and such; only to have the final product be pretty simple.  Did any of that make sense?!  LOL!

Anyway...this was (unfortunately) my final challenge I was able to submit for National Scrapbook Day over at My Pink Stamper.  I completed a total of 6; which is half.  I hate defeat but according to time on clock and my "day" job, I have to wave white flag.  :(  Errrrrrr!

On that note...Challenge 6 had one specific request...Incorporate a TAG into your project.

Given the recent News about "Public Enemy #1" and reading the theme for this challenge; I thought my layout was fitting.  Hope you enjoy it as well!  :)

Circut Carts used: Stand & Salute and Independence Day

Embellishments: Stickles, jeweled brads, Twinery, K&Company American Flag dimensional sticker

The type of TAG I incorporated was a dog tag.  ;)

Hope you enjoyed this one.  :)

My Pink Stamper National Scrapbook Day Challenge 3

So...the 2nd challenge for My Pink Stamper was to make a card or scrapbook page using Kraft cardstock.  I however do not have Kraft cardstock (hear the jaws dropping...LOL) so I moved on to the 3rd challenge. :)

The 3rd challenge was to make card, scrap page, or 3D object using BREAST CANCER for the theme.

I am proud of this card.  It was my first time making a side step card.  This took me a couple of times to get right; but the final outcome ROCKS; in my humble opinion.  ;)

The Cricut cartridges used were Forever Young and Stand & Salute.

I re-organized my craft space and sorted cardstock by colors; so I'm not able to share what brand of cardstock I used; however, I do know the designer paper is from a retired set by Stampin Up!

I used Stickles and jeweled sticker dimensional flowers (apologies...don't recall brand) for embellishing.

I also used My Pink Stamper stamp sets.

So...that's two down and 9 more to go.  :)

This was my first project using my brand new Gypsy!  :)  Just a few minor tweaks to the project as I was "cutting", but overall...I LOVE my Gypsy!!  :<>

The assignment for this project had to be about "movement."  So...thanks to my friend Linda, she let me sample a couple of those Action Wobbles.  Check them out: Action Wobble

Another fond embellishment I'm enjoying...Stickles!  As I used quite a few colors to add "bling" to my page.
